2027 Spiral Difficulty Framework

Dear Wheel Gymnastics Community,

We are pleased to announce the pre-release of the Spiral Difficulty Framework 2027 as part of our ongoing work in updating the Gym Wheel Code of Points 2027 (CoP 2027).

Following in the footsteps of the already pre-released Straight-Line Difficulty Framework 2027, this new pre-release will give coaches, judges and gymnasts an insight into the structural updates, element classifications, and evaluation criteria for the Spiral discipline.

These include:

  • Clearer element classifications: Streamlined categorisation of spiral elements, element combinations and transitions to ensure greater consistency across the Straight-Line and Spiral disciplines.

  • Refined Structure Groups: Structure Groups that are aligned with the new categorisation of elements.

FEEDBACK & NEXT STEPS

This pre-release serves as a provisional document (work in progress) to give members of our community the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the upcoming changes in 2027.

We welcome feedback, questions, and constructive input from the community during this review period until the end of November. The Athletes’ Commission has prepared a survey and you are encouraged to use the link below to provide feedback on the pre-released Spiral Difficulty Framework 2027:

Being able to publish this preliminary Spiral Framework so soon after our comprehensive Straight-Line project would not have been possible without the immense dedication, expertise, and time invested by project lead Max Brinkmann and collaborators Malena Kernacs, Ingrid Vukusic, Simon Rufener.

Thank you for your continued dedication to the development of Wheel Gymnastics!

Kind regards from the IRV Judging Team,

KC & Max
