The 2024 Individual Wheel Gymnastics World Championships will be held in Almere (NL)

So many wheel gymnasts have been eagerly awaiting this moment: Who will be the host for the next Wheel Gymnastics World Championships? Rumours were spreading. Would it be Israel, Germany, the Netherlands or the USA again? Traditionally, the next host country is revealed at the latest during the previous World Championships, but there was no official statement at the 2023 Team World Championships in Chicago..

After receiving an official bid from the Netherlands at the end of August, we are now extremely happy to announce that the championship contract has been signed and we are ready to roll. IRV president Henning Henningsen is delighted:

I am very happy that the Wheel Gymnastics family will again get together in the Netherlands. The ‘Oranje’ country has a historic relationship with wheel gymnastics. Nearly 30 years ago in 1995, the first ever Wheel Gymnastics World Championships took place in Den Helder. It is a pleasure to be coming back to the Netherlands, especially knowing that Dutch wheel gymnastics athletes have always played such an active and successful role in our World Championship events.

Sports halls decorated in orange, powerful and supportive fans, creative team efforts, and last but not least strong routines – these are the trademarks of the Dutch team – and this team has now taken up the challenge to organise an unforgettable 2024 World Championships.

With the competition venue at Topsportcentrum Almere, the organisers have secured a modern arena worthy of a World Championships. The sports hall has a spectator capacity of almost 3000 and provides a perfect backdrop for a great competition atmosphere. In addition to the big competition hall, there are a number of smaller warm-up gyms available.

The Dutch organising team around Jeroen de Bruin has committed to a sustainable Championship. As part of this commitment, bicycles will be made available to all teams, making it quick and easy to travel between the team hotels in the centre of Almere and the competition venue.

After the successful premiere of the new IRV Code of Points during the 2023 Team World Championships in Chicago, we are looking forward to a high level World Championships event in Almere, where the new regulations can be put into practice in a wider context.
