2024 Individual IRV World Championships

The World Championship key has a temporary new home – in the Netherlands

It was a cheerful moment. At the beginning of the Austrian Open – an IRV certified competition – IRV President Henning Henningsen solemnly presented the huge World Championship steel key to the Netherlands. Roy van Zwienen from the 2024 Dutch Organising Committee accepted the key and with it the responsibility for hosting the next Individual World Championships in Almere at the end of July 2024.

In the past, the key ceremony has taken place during the previous World Championships, but the negotiations were not finished in time for the Team World Championships in July 2023 in Chicago, so this symbolic moment had to be postponed.

“I’m very happy to hand over this key to the Dutch Organising Committee”, says IRV president Henning Henningsen. “I’m sure the Netherlands will do everything to make the 2024 World Championships a success – what we have seen so far looks very promising.”

The 2024 World Championships will take place from July 28 to August 4th in Topsportcentrum Almere and will include world championship events in both Cyr and Gym Wheel. Athletes from all over the world – hopefully from as far away as Colombia, the US, Israel and even Australia – will compete alongside European athletes at the most important IRV competition of the year.
