Gym Wheel Code of Points – Revision Timeline 2024-25
The Gym Wheel Code of Points Team has carried out a review of the Code of Points 2023+ to take into account feedback after the 2024 World Championships.
Our original aim was to publish a complete revised version before the end of 2024. However, due to the unexpected stepping down of an essential member of our team, and the fact that the forthcoming new straight-line difficulty catalogue will have an impact on the Code of Points, we have decided to divide the revision and adaptation process into two stages.
- STAGE 1:
Stage 1 will only focus on corrections and improvements to the CoP that will have minimal effect on the composition of the gymnasts’ routines so that it can be used for the Team World Championships in Leipzig 2025.
- STAGE 2:
Stage 2 will be initiated in conjunction with the publication of the new straight-line difficulty catalogue (see below).
We will endeavour to present the STAGE 1 revision to the Athletes’ Commission by the end of this year for their review and feedback so that it can be published at the beginning of 2025. As soon as we have published this version, we will offer a refresher course for judges and other interested parties.
Update on the new Straight-Line Difficulty Catalogue for Gym Wheel
As previously explained, the new straight-line difficulty catalogue is the result of many years of work by a team of wheel gymnastics experts who will hand over responsibility to the current Code of Points Team at the end of this year.
The current Code of Points team has recently been given an insight into the new difficulty catalogue and will publish an initial overview in the first quarter of 2025, while the full version will be released later in the year. The new catalogue will have a significant impact on gymnasts’ routines and will therefore not be valid until AFTER the Team World Championships 2025.
Regarding the submission of new straight-line elements for inclusion in the difficulty catalogue, we are happy to inform you that 30 new elements submitted by September 2024 have already been incorporated. However, given that the new straight-line catalogue will bring some changes in the order and structure of elements in all disciplines, we will not be accepting any additional new element submissions until after the 2026 World Championships. This will give everyone enough time to become acquainted with the modified structure and new elements before making more changes.
We thank you in advance for your understanding.
