France becomes IRV Bronze Member

– The IRV is growing –

‌The IRV is delighted to welcome a new country into its federation. In March 2024, France joined the IRV with Bronze member status.

‌The driving force behind the new member country is seven-times World Champion, Achus Emeis. The former German wheel gymnast and event manager is now living in France and has joined Association Feelethik, a club in the small town of Andernos-Les-Bains, not far from Bordeaux in Southern France.

In January this year, the club managed to buy 13 gym wheels from a German wheel gymnastics club in Oldenburg. Achus Emeis loaded the wheels onto a trailer and drove with a minibus more than 3300 km down to the South of France. Together with Sylvain Querrioux from Feelethik, he is now developing wheel gymnastics in Andernos-Les-Bains.

“I’m very happy to welcome Sylvain, Achus and Association Feelethik as new friends and members of the IRV”, says IRV President Henning Henningsen. “It is great to see that the efforts to develop training structures in France have paid off.”

Since mid-February, children and adults can attend wheel gymnastic classes twice a week in Andernos-Les-Bains. For the moment, the main focus is on Gym Wheel, but Cyr Wheel will follow. To further promote French wheel gymnastics, an international training camp is already being planned for the month of August 2025.

We look forward to meeting French representatives at the 2024 World Championships in the Netherlands and giving them an official welcome at the IRV General Assembly.
