IRV General Assembly Elects a New President
The IRV has a new president – Matthias Reich (Switzerland) will take over from Henning Henningsen (Germany), while Maria Sollohub (Norway), Sabine Krumm (Switzerland) and Achus Emeis (France) were elected as vice presidents.
It was an emotional moment as Henning Henningsen was given a standing ovation during the IRV General Assembly in Almere, on Monday 29 July. After nine years in office, IRV President Henning Henningsen decided not to stand for re-election. The national delegates thanked him for his dedicated work, his visionary leadership of the federation and for building a competent team in the IRV.
There were two contenders for the presidency; the head of the German delegation Dirk Balkenohl and the former Swiss elite gymnast Matthias Reich. The two candidates both submitted strong applications and there was excitement in the air as the votes were counted. Congratulations go to the election winner, Matthias Reich.
Maria Sollohub and Sabine Krumm were re-elected as vice presidents and will be joined by Achus Emeis, representing France as a new IRV member country. The fourth vice president, Günter Fischer, is in office until 2026. The Executive Board is now complete with a president and four vice presidents, and is looking ahead to an exciting future.
The IRV is delighted to welcome France as a new member of IRV and is looking forward to the first activities planned in Southern France.
The General Assembly also agreed to decide on a venue for the 2026 Individual Championships by the end of September this year. Germany and the USA have submitted applications from Göttingen and Reno (Nevada) respectively. Exciting times ahead!
